The New Mexico Counties presented Grant County with a Risk Awareness Program award during the 82nd Annual Conference on June 22, 2018 in Socorro County. The county completed their first year of RAP reducing workers’ compensation claims by 10%, auto claims by 40%, and law enforcement claims by 31% as compared to the previous year.
This award is a direct reflection of Grant County Employees dedication to safety. The employees strive to recognize the hazards in their daily operations and workspaces. As the County Risk/Safety Manager, I have learned that county employees want a safe work environment for themselves and their customers. Safety is one of those things that can always be improved upon, and I am confident that the County Employees will continue to improve the level of safety in their work environment. Finally, I would like to thank all the County Employees for their work during the past year and in advance for their continued work and dedication to safety! -- Gilbert Helton
The award is offered through NMC’s Risk Awareness Program, a workplace risk control educational program that aims to reduce the frequency and severity of county claims through better risk awareness and safety practices.
